About SilentCut

The story behind the tool

⚡ SilentCut removes dead air from videos and audio files directly in your browser — no uploads, no accounts, completely private.

What is SilentCut?

SilentCut is a free, browser-based tool that automatically detects and removes silent gaps from video and audio files. Whether you are a podcaster trimming dead air, a YouTuber tightening up a vlog, or an educator cleaning up a recorded lecture, SilentCut helps you cut the silence in seconds — without uploading a single byte to a server.

Why we built it

Editing out silence by hand is tedious. Most online tools that promise to do it for you require you to upload your files to a remote server, create an account, or pay a subscription — and your private recordings end up sitting on someone else's machine.

We wanted something different: a tool that does all the work locally, respects your privacy completely, and is genuinely free. So we built SilentCut on top of WebAssembly and FFmpeg, which lets the browser do professional-grade media processing entirely on your own device.

How it works

Our commitment

SilentCut is free and open source, and we intend to keep it that way. Your files are never uploaded, your usage is never sold, and the core tool will always be available at no cost. If the tool saves you time, you are welcome to support its development — but you will never be required to.

Who built it

SilentCut is built and maintained by Md Kashif Ali. You can follow along on YouTube and Instagram, or reach out any time via our contact page.
